The Component Engineer will be responsible for managing electronic and electromechanical components throughout their lifecycle, ensuring compliance with design, quality, and regulatory standards. This role supports product integrity by mitigating obsolescence risks, maintaining approved component databases, and collaborating with design teams to select and qualify parts for aerospace and defence applications. The Component Engineer role plays a key role in shaping and managing part number set-ups, configurations and a range of technical processes that keep operations running smoothly.
Skills and Experience
Requirements
HNC in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related discipline.
Strong knowledge of electronic components and their applications.
Experience with component lifecycle management and obsolescence tools.
Familiarity with aerospace/defense standards and quality requirements.
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities
Component Selection & Qualification
Evaluate and approve components for use in designs, ensuring compliance with industry standards (e.g., MIL, DEF STAN).
Work with suppliers and internal teams to qualify new parts and maintain approved vendor lists.
Obsolescence Management
Monitor component lifecycle status and proactively manage obsolescence risks.
Develop mitigation strategies, including last-time buys and alternative sourcing.
Compliance & Standards
Ensure adherence to RoHS, REACH, and other environmental and regulatory requirements.
Maintain component data integrity within PLM systems.
